Gum Therapy

Following your comprehensive gum exam, Dr. Seidler and her team will explain to you the best treatment to manage your gums and also how to maintain their good health following treatment.  Depending on the health of the gums or the severity of the gum disease, treatment options can vary.

Treating gum disease usually starts with removing the bacteria that is responsible for the gum disease. Often, the first step in treatment is "root planing".  This means that your teeth will be scaled/cleaned underneath the gums to remove the tartar and bacteria that cannot be reached with brushing and  flossing. Gum treatment may also sometimes need to be combined with the use of an antibiotic to control the bacteria and in some cases gum surgery to correct the problem.

At LE 32 Clinique Dentaire, we are proud to offer the use of a dental laser which can be a great option to compliment your gum therapy.  The laser is very safe and can be used in a variety of ways to help with the treatment and management of gum disease. For example, the laser can be used to control bacteria under the gums or, can be used to help with gum surgeries.

Managing, controlling and preventing gum disease can be a continuous process. Routine dental check-ups and cleanings are essential to maintain healthy gums, especially if you have had gum disease in the past.
